I'd like to chime here and agree with all the positive comments on the owners of the Bottle Shop. I've been there twice, met both guys, and found them very helpful and easy-going. They have great wines of all prices, but it's not like Harris Teeter, where you have every brand of cheap stuff and mid-priced stuff just for the sake of having it. All their wines seem hand-picked by the owners, and they know everything about each bottle. I've bought 3 wines they recommended and have been very happy with each - not to mention the prices were comparable to the other shops in town.

They also have a very nice beer selection, also seemingly hand-selected. Again, it's not an obligatorily enormous HT-style selection, but each beer they have is a stand-out (Gulden Draak!!!).

I'm shopping here instead of Total Wine or A Southern Season from now on, because I have to support such a great local offering that has the added benefit of actually being in my neighborhood (Woodcroft is awesome).

How does it compare to Wine Authorities? I was surprised to hear that the Bottle Shop has a wine dispenser, since W.A. makes such a big deal about theirs. Sounds like two stores with similar styles within 4 or 5 miles.

I agree! This place is fantastic. I have gone to several of their tastings and they are always a great experience. FYI: They are having a tasting tomorrow night. They will feature some fantastic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

This store is excellent. The two owners are very helpful every time we go in. The tastings are a fun way to experience new wines, and I love the beer selection. Highly recommended!

This is hands down the best wine shop in the Triangle. They make buying, drinking, and learning about beer and wine fun, which is a novel approach in this day and age. I have walked in there and told them what I was cooking for dinner and Thomas and Drew have been able to pair for me on the spot. Furthermore, their work with neighborhood restaurants is highly commendable. It's high time we got a place like this in Durham. Thanks, guys!
